Johnna Luck Obituary

In memory of the amazing Johnna Luck, who quietly passed away surrounded by her family in Cripple Creek, Colorado on the evening of March 9th, 2019. She was 73 years old.

Johnna was born August 27, 1945 in Hutchinson, Kansas to her parents John and Bernice (Keller) Cole. She was welcomed into the world by her elder sister Carol and a large and loving extended family of grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins, with whom she always remained close. Johnna often reminisced about her wonderful childhood in Kansas spent climbing trees, fishing, playing with her dogs, riding her beloved horse Tony, and weekends away with her family. Throughout her life, she encouraged others to discover the courage to embrace thier own uniqueness and individuality. Johnna was a vocal supporter of civil rights, equality for women, animal welfare, and wildlife conservation, causes that she held near to her heart. During the 1970's-80s, Johnna raised two children while working as a surgical nurse, later achieving a Master's degree in public administration from Wichita State University. She went on to work in state government at the Kansas Bureau of Commerce in Topeka. During a trip to Colorado the summer of 1992, Johnna met the man she always described as 'the love of her life,' Charlie Luck. Without hesitation, Johnna moved to Cripple Creek to begin her new life with Charlie and from that moment forward, they were inseparable. Johnna's optimistic approach to life was shared by her very close circle of friends in Cripple Creek and Victor, each of whom she cherished and adored unconditionally. Johnna's curious spirit and love of adventure her to travel around the world later in life, embarking on travels across Europe, India, and Southeast Asia. She is survived by her husband Charlie Luck, her daughter Julie Thomas, her son Jason Thomas, and her three grandchildren.
