Douglas Ryan Swanson of Florissant, CO joined the stars on September 22, 2019. He was born December 21, 1950 in Glendale, CA to parents Edgar and Libby Swanson.
Doug lived on Mount Wilson throughout his childhood. He met the love of his life Sandy in high school. They were married January 29, 1977 in Sun Valley, CA and right away began their new journey moving to Colorado.
Doug spent many years as a roofer and the Fire Chief with the Florissant Volunteer Fire Department, but his true talent and passion was music. He spent every available moment playing, singing, and writing music. Over the years, he was part of several bands, but Revel was a main staple in Florissant and the surrounding communities. Doug never turned down a request to pick up his guitar, sing a song, and put a smile on anyone’s face. With the kindest of hearts and soft sweet tone of his voice, he sang many brides down the aisle on their most special day.
Doug was known to most as Squealin’ Blind or Chief, but his most treasured name was Papa. He was the most loving, caring, and giving Papa to his 3 precious grandkids.
Doug is survived by Daughter Cory (Andy) Willis, Son Nathan (Courtney) Swanson. 3 grandchildren Jacob Ilse, Kylie Willis, Hailey Swanson, Sister Norma Foster. Along with countless aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He is reunited with Wife Sandra Swanson, Son Bryan Swanson, Father Edgar Swanson, Mother Libby Whittekiend, Brother Raymond Swanson, and several aunts and uncles.
Celebration of Life - October 5th, 2 PM at the Thunderbird, Florissant.
