Daisy Belle Banks (Franklin) went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 2, 2019, one day short of her 97th birthday.
She was born on February 3, 1922 in West Bay, Grand Cayman Islands. She was married to her loving husband, Frank, for 49 years. They lived in the Cayman Islands until they immigrated to the United States in the late 1940’s. They raised their two daughters, Coleen and Laverne in Port Arthur, Texas. She lived there until the passing of Frank in 1997, and shortly thereafter moved to Austin, Texas to live with Laverne and her family. She moved to Colorado in 2016 with Laverne and her son-in-law, Larry.
Daisy Belle was a homemaker who in earlier years enjoyed teaching, gardening, sewing, crocheting, reading, working cross word puzzles and spending time with her three grandchildren. She also worked for JC Penney for several years. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of the Covenant in Port Arthur and attended Great Hills Baptist Church in Austin. She will be remembered for her kindness, sweet spirit and loving heart towards her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Aldine & Harwood Franklin; her brothers: Lloyd Franklin and Harold Franklin; her sisters: Annette Parsons, Catherine Franklin and Deane Hydes and her husband: Frank Banks.
She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law: Burke and Elsa Franklin; her daughters and sons-in-laws: Coleen and David Wright and Laverne and Larry Dowden; her grandchildren: Adam Dowden, Lacey Dowden and Taylor Wright and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside memorial service is planned on March 22, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Cemetery in Port Arthur, Texas where her ashes will be buried alongside her beloved husband, Frank.
