Alice Marie (Kulhavy) Brammer

Alice Marie (Kulhavy) Brammer celebrated her 101 birthday September 7,  and then went to her heavenly father on Nov 21, 2019.  She had been a resident of the Cripple Creek Care Center, in Cripple Creek, CO. since June 2019.  She was born Sept. 7, 1918 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Caroline and William Kulhavy.

She attended schools in Cedar Rapids and upon graduation began her working career at Kilian’s Department Store as an elevator operator and then moved into accounting.  She married Arnold Henry (Pete) Brammer on May 25, 1941 in Cedar Rapids at Trinity Lutheran Church. He passed on March 29, 1973 at age 59.  She always kept her home, did office work and bookkeeping until she retired.  She enjoyed playing cards and the piano.

She is probably most remembered for always having the coffee pot on and having Sara Lee Brownies ready when family and guests would stop by.  On Sundays the family always enjoyed a nice oven dinner after church around a table that always had to be expanded.

She is survived by three daughters – Ms. Linda Brainard of Greeley, CO., Ms. Terri Nagel of Tinley Park, IL., and Mrs. Ellen Weidner (husband Don) of Florissant, CO, sister-in-law Laverna Kulhavy of Cedar Rapids along with numerous nieces, nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Irene May Smith of Round Rock, Texas and her brother William “Bill” Kulhavy of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, sons-in-law Robert “Jim” Brainard of Greeley, CO , Edgar Herbert Nagel of Valparaiso, IN, brother-in-law Marvon Smith of Cedar Rapids, IA and  a niece Diane M. Smith of Marion, IA.

She currently has a large family of 13 Grandchildren, 25 Great Grandchildren and 11 Great Great Grandchildren.

Services will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, Woodland Park, CO on Jan 8th 2020 at 11am. Interment will follow in late Spring or Summer at Linwood Memorial Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa joining her husband and parents.
